Shaneda Warren Andersen Receives ICTR Award

The CDHA community proudly celebrates Dr. Shaneda Warren Andersen, Associate Professor of Population Health Sciences, for receiving the ICTR Translational Basic & Clinical Pilot Award for her project “Biomarkers to Personalize Colorectal Cancer Screening & Treatment.” A Badger alumna, she earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. at UW–Madison before pursuing postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Warren Andersen’s research focuses on how social determinants, lifestyle factors, and molecular mechanisms influence cancer risk and survivorship. Her work aims to identify disparities in colorectal cancer outcomes and drive precision health solutions.

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) awarded 11 pilot grants totaling $550,000 to support innovative health research. Dr. Warren Andersen’s project, co-led with Dr. Nicci Owusu-Brackett from the Department of Surgery, exemplifies the interdisciplinary collaboration that ICTR fosters via this funding mechanism.

These awards, made possible through support from the UW Carbone Cancer Center and the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center, promote novel preventive and therapeutic approaches. Congratulations to Dr. Warren Andersen on this outstanding achievement!
