The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for a position in the area of Social Genomics, beginning August 2022. Social Genomics is a field of research that integrates theories, data, and methods across the social, behavioral, health, and genetic sciences. This position is the final of three hires in this area and is part of an interdisciplinary cluster hiring initiative (facstaff.provost.wisc.edu/cluster-hiring-initiative), designed to foster innovative, outstanding research programs that will stimulate productive interactions among faculty and students interested in the integration of genetics and social science research across the campus and to expand interdisciplinary research in this area. Tenure home will be determined at time of hire.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, cutting-edge, highly visible, and interdisciplinary research program that specializes in integrating genomic methods within the social, behavioral, and/or health sciences. We are especially interested in candidates pursuing research that focus on social, medical and/or policy implications that stem from using genomic data. Research programs may include (but are not limited to) innovative uses of polygenic scores; integrating genetics with medical sociology, aging, and/or related fields; combining social and genetic data to answer social science questions, social epigenomic research.
