Roland Rau is professor of demography at the University of Rostock where he currently serves also as chair of the department of sociology & demography. In addition, he is a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. His main research interests are in mathematical and statistical demography, survival improvements in developed countries, and population ageing.
